My Approach

My Journey of self expression started as a child, I'm sure most people can relate. It is in those very early stages, of being on earth, that we get the chance to truly be ourselves and explore our inner world. From the outside, my origins could be perceived as unstable in many ways, but I have always been capable of finding my 'Muse' in just about anything.

Having picked up the paintbrush in January of 2023, for the first time in my 25 years, I was able to tap into that unseen place that seemed to be just underneath the surface for so many years. The seed was planted in me after a Norwegian holiday, I was exposed to those deeply prolific works of Munch himself. After knowing it was possible to capture one's ideas in such a simple yet moving way, I felt this strong feeling of "finally, I found my pulse".

Having always been a thinker and considering myself a spiritual person, I was drawn to topics of religion, philosophy and even the magical world of the occult, from a very young age.

Painting for me was a perfect outlet to allow for my introspective understandings to manifest on the canvas. I was finally able to put down all that I understood to be personal revelations into something bigger than myself. Of course, this is still an ongoing process of evolution and self-realisation. Which is why I place great importance in being honest with myself, without compromise. This brings me to my creative process and why I think it's important to highlight almost just as much as the art itself.

Many thinkers throughout time have pondered on where we get our ideas from, are we just an amalgamation of experiences and knowledge?. Or do we have the capacity for original thought?

I personally think that when a true artist taps into this immense power of creation, they have to adhere to the forces of chaos itself. Going beyond the borders of established form and mundanity. Initially, I promised myself that I would always allow the subconscious mind to take the lead in my creative process. Having no formal training, I often sketch random imagery stemming from emotions, which I then psycho analyse afterwards to break down what I call 'messages of the divine'. I then build upon these images, tying down as many symbolic values, until I have a final composition which I then translate onto the canvas with paint. I've also used forms of esoteric practices, like shamanism, to plant different images or ideas into my pulse for inspiration.

I would describe my style more often as Uncanny. Observing it from third person, it feels as if I see altered states of realities, fragmented pieces of the human psyche embodied into characters, often reflecting the initiations of revelation and empowerment or struggle. With the use of bold colours to contrast with visceral forms of environmental symbolism, which highlight the connectivity of our perception with our surroundings. Serving as a form of communication that expands upon the viewer's perspective, for a wide range of individual use and imagery that goes beyond human language.

They say that an image is worth a thousand words, which is another major reason I chose visual arts as a medium to express these potent themes. I see my paintings as portals in a way, leading people through the eyes of the magical world I myself have a fascination for. Ultimately, I am not in control of the viewer's perception or feelings toward my art but that's the beauty of it all. Regardless, I hope to breathe life into those who have the capacity to access the divine that I myself have been bestowed.
